Google is expanding the automatic video captioning feature in YouTube to include 6 more languages – German, Italian, French, Portuguese, Russian and Dutch. The captioning feature was first introduced in 2009 to make it easier for hearing-impaired viewers, and those who speak different languages, to view and understand YouTube content. Automatic captioning is already provided for English, Japanese, Korean and Spanish. The latest addition will provide support for hundreds of millions of viewers who speak those six languages.
